Basic Pistol Shooting Course

Description: You will learn the basic knowledge, skills, and attitude for owning and operating a pistol safely. This course is at least 8-hours long and includes classroom and range time learning to shoot revolvers and semi-automatic pistols. Students learn the rules for safe gun handling; pistol parts and operation; ammunition; shooting fundamentals; range rules; shooting from the bench rest position and two handed standing positions; cleaning the pistol; and continued opportunities for skill development. Students will receive a course completion certificate.  Students are encouraged to use their own guns and ammo, but don't worry if you don't have, we will supply them for you.  Check our class schedule for upcoming classes.  [Classes get 10-15 minute breaks every hour.  The all day courses break for an hour mid-day to allow students a chance to get something to eat.  Plan accordingly for snack, lunch, drinks, etc.]

What you will need: You will need to finish paying for your class, if you haven't done so.  You'll need a pen/pencil, but if you forget, we have pens for you to use.  If you have your own handgun, you're encouraged to use it in the class, as long as it's safe and in good repair.  We generally shoot about 50 rounds during the live fire portion of the class, but it wouldn't hurt to have extra with you.  If you don't have a handgun yet, we can provide one for you to use.  There is no cost for use of the pistol, but you will have to purchase a box of ammunition for the live fire portion of the class.  You will use your handgun in the classroom portion of the class, but absolutely no live ammunition in the classroom!  And that's everything you will need for your class.

Classes will meet as follows: Classes will convene at the shop a little before 8am and run until 5 - 5:30pm (time will vary based on number of students in the class, number of questions at the end of class, etc., but we're finding the classes are usually done by 4pm).  You will have an hour break for lunch mid-day and will reconvene at the range for the live fire portion of the class; afterward you will return to the shop to finish up the remaining lessons.

Cost of course: $120 per student

Note: We accept walk-ins, however we cannot guarantee you a seat in the class if you haven't preregistered and secured your seat with a deposit.  We have limited seating available.
